Bourbonnais, Ill. - Olivet Nazarene (5-10) opened the weekend inside McHie Arena against Lourdes, competing closely in the first set before the visitors pulled away late for a 25-23 win. The Tigers kept pace throughout the opening frame, highlighted by strong connections between Tomas Gonzalez and his hitters, including multiple kills from Nic VanOort and Cade Ooms. Despite holding momentum midway through the set, Lourdes closed on a late run to secure the 1-0 match lead.

The Tigers continued to battle in sets two and three but ultimately fell 25-17, 25-17.

Offensively, Nic VanOort and Cade Ooms played key roles on the outside, consistently finding points in transition. Cameron Johnston added several timely kills, while Joe Akeo contributed both at the net and from the service line. Tomas Gonzalez directed the offense throughout the match, spreading the ball effectively and keeping the Lourdes block moving.

Defensively, Olivet showed resilience at the net with blocks from VanOort, while the back row worked to extend rallies against a high-powered Lourdes attack.
