BOURBONNAIS, Ill. — Olivet Nazarene (IL) (19-9, 15-5) secured a 65-59 victory over Indiana Northwest (11-17, 9-11) on Senior Day at McHie Arena. The Tigers overcame a 13-point deficit in the second half, bolstered by hitting 9 three-pointers during their second-half run.
Olivet opened the game with a Will Baden putback at 19:39. Despite this start, IU Northwest took control, building a 13-4 lead by the 13:53 mark. The Tigers battled back, tying the game at 17 with Mason Wood's layup at 6:46.
The half continued to see shifts in momentum, with the Tigers briefly taking a 20-19 lead after Eli Edwards' three-pointer at 5:46. However, IU Northwest closed the half on a strong note, leading 29-25 as it concluded.
The Tigers surged ahead in the second half with a series of impactful plays, including a crucial 3-pointer by Andrew Bennett at 5:18, which gave the team a 54–52 lead. They maintained momentum with a 3-pointer by Dylan Fey at 4:22, expanding their advantage. The Redhawks attempted to close the gap, but the Tigers' defense held firm. The game ended with a final score of 65–59 in favor of the Tigers.
Wood tallied 15 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, showcasing his ability to score and control the boards. Edwards contributed with 14 points and secured 14 rebounds, delivering a double-double performance. Bennett converted four 3-pointers and dished out seven assists, providing key plays and facilitating the offense. All-Conference guard, Caleb Corro returned to the lineup and added 7 points.
The Tigers lock in the 3-seed in the CCAC Tournament and will host St. Ambrose in the Quarterfinals on Wed. February 25th.
