TIGERS WIN THREE GAMES DURING WEEKEND SERIES IN ROSEMONT
ROSEMONT, Ill. - The Olivet Nazarene University softball team picked up three wins in Rosemont, Ill. during action on Friday and Saturday. After a couple of defensive battles on Friday, the Tigers erupted on Saturday to take both games in high-scoring affairs.
In the first game on Friday, ONU put together a strong defensive performance in a hard-fought 2–1 loss to Lawrence Tech. The Tigers struck early in the second inning when Meegan Randall delivered an RBI single to bring home Victoria Strines, giving ONU its lone run of the day. Freshman Rheanna Slavicek led the offense with two hits, while Brooklyn Haffey and RayElle Brennan added one each to round out Olivet Nazarene's five-hit outing. In the circle, Olivia Saldana was outstanding, throwing 6.2 innings without surrendering an earned run and allowing only four hits. Despite holding the lead into the seventh, the Tigers saw Lawrence Tech push across two late runs, narrowly slipping past ONU.
In game two, the Tigers secured a steady 3–1 victory over Cornerstone, thanks to a decisive three‑run third inning and strong performances on both sides of the ball. RyLyn Adams led the Tigers with a stellar four-hit game, while Christa Contreras, Stephanie Hause, and Gaetana Calo each drove in a run during the pivotal frame that put ONU ahead for good. Freshman Rheanna Slavicek added three hits, including a double, as part of the team's 11-hit outing. In the circle, Victoria Strines delivered a complete-game gem, allowing just one earned run on eight hits while striking out four to notch the win.
ONU dominated from start to finish in a commanding 13–1 win over Rochester Christian on Saturday, exploding for 13 runs on 13 hits behind a relentless offensive surge. The Tigers spread the scoring across all five innings, highlighted by extra‑base power from RayElle Brennan, Stephanie Hause, and Rheanna Slavicek, who each tripled as ONU built an early lead and never looked back. RyLyn Adams sparked the lineup with two hits, three runs, and two RBI, while Slavicek delivered a three‑RBI performance to help break the game open in the fifth. Gwen Bender added three hits as part of ONU's balanced attack. In the circle, Gaetana Calo was steady and efficient, allowing just one unearned run over five innings to earn the complete‑game victory.
in the weekend finale, the Tigers erupted for 15 runs in a high‑energy 15–9 victory over Cornerstone, using three big innings to power past the Golden Eagles in Rosemont. The Tigers opened the game with an explosive six‑run first inning, highlighted by RBI hits from Stephanie Hause, Gwen Bender, and Rheanna Slavicek, along with patient plate appearances that produced key walks to extend the rally. After Cornerstone answered with a seven‑run surge of its own, ONU stayed composed and clawed back, tying the game in the sixth when Christa Contreras ripped a bases‑clearing double to make it 9–9. The Tigers then put the game away with a massive six‑run seventh inning, featuring RBI walks from Rheanna Slavicek, RyLyn Adams, and Contreras before RayElle Brennan delivered the final blow—a three‑run triple that broke the game open. Olivia Saldana settled in after a turbulent first inning, pitching seven strong frames to earn the win as ONU's offense took control late to secure the high‑scoring road victory.
