UAB SPRING INVITATIONAL
Olivet Nazarene University's women's track and field team delivered several notable performances at the UAB Spring Invitational.
Freshman Teleyah Covington led the Tigers in the 200 meters, placing sixth overall in 24.69, while senior Carsyn Burdine followed in 10th (24.89). Burdine added a strong effort in the 400 meters, finishing seventh overall in 56.52, with Covington close behind in ninth (57.02). Sophomore Olivia Lentz recorded one of ONU's top performances of the day, finishing second in the 400-meter hurdles with an NAIA 'B' qualifying time of 1:02.09. Lentz also competed in the 100 hurdles, joined by teammate Madelyn Harris.
In relay action, ONU's 4x100-meter relay team of Haylee Whitcraft, Burdine, Angel Ward, and Covington finished fourth overall in 47.94.
In the field events, senior Hailey Perrine placed eighth in the long jump (5.60m), while Sophie Dagnall tied for fourth in the high jump, clearing 1.57 meters.
The ONU men's track and field team turned in an impressive all-around performance, highlighted by an event win, multiple podium finishes, and strong relay efforts at the UAB Spring Invitational.
Senior Noah Mack led the way, placing third in the 100 meters (10.63) before capturing first place in the 200 meters with an NAIA 'B' qualifying time of 21.04. Junior Avery Johnson delivered a strong hurdles double, finishing fourth in the 110 hurdles (15.51) and third in the 400 hurdles (56.60). In the quarter-mile, Connor Price placed fifth in the 400 meters (49.03), with freshman Romance Atkins right behind in sixth (49.07).
The Tigers also found success in the 4x100 relay, as Darrin Dussett, Mack, Martin Thompson, and Weston White finished second overall in 41.34, narrowly missing the top spot. The ONU "A" squad of Atkins, Price, Eric White, and Dussett added a second-place finish in the 4x400 relay (3:17.77).
In the field events, senior Desmond Hunter placed fifth in the long jump (6.69m), while freshman Xavier Johnson recorded a runner-up finish in the triple jump (14.16m).
BIG BLUE OUTDOOR OPENER
Olivet Nazarene University's women's track and field team posted a strong showing in the throwing events, led by junior Amanda Gustafson, who captured first place in the shot put with a throw of 13.55 meters (44'‑5.5"), meeting the NAIA "B" qualifying standard. Gustafson also finished second in the discus at 41.19 meters (135'‑2") and added an 11th‑place finish in the hammer throw.
Freshman Clara Brunner delivered a consistent multi‑event performance, placing 10th in the shot put, eighth in the discus, and 13th in the hammer against deep and competitive fields.
Freshmen Faith Hughes and Natalie Gross gained valuable experience across multiple events. Hughes placed 21st in the discus, 19th in the hammer, and 10th in the javelin, while Gross earned a 22nd‑place finish in the discus and a strong 12th in the hammer throw.
The men's throwers put together a strong performance, led by senior Braden Kehr, who captured first place in the javelin with a winning mark of 54.48 meters (178'9").
Marcus Robinson turned in an excellent all-around meet for the Tigers, earning third place in the shot put with a mark of 15.03 meters (49'3.75"), third in the discus at 45.79 meters (150'3"), and second in the hammer throw with a toss of 51.31 meters (168'4").
Okenoko Pascall added a runner-up finish in the discus (48.46m / 159'0") and placed fifth in the shot put, while freshmen Patrick O'Connor and Matthew Stevens contributed solid marks across the shot put, discus, and hammer to round out a productive meet for Olivet Nazarene's throwing group.
