BOURBONNAIS, Ill. — Olivet Nazarene University (21-6, 17-2) defeated Holy Cross College (15-12, 11-8), 103-65, at McHie Arena. With the win, Tigerball clinched the CCAC Regular Season Championship, their first since 2012.
Olivet started the game strongly, establishing control early with a 7–0 run, highlighted by Olivia Dirkse's 3-pointer at 9:06. The team effectively capitalized on turnovers, scoring 15 points off the Saints' turnovers. Lindsey Nell contributed, with multiple steals and assists, helping the Tigers extend their lead to 31–10 by the end of the first quarter.
The Tigers shifted the momentum in the second quarter with a dominant performance, extending their lead. Nell spearheaded the effort with a crucial 3-pointer at 00:41 and added multiple steals and assists, contributing to Olivet's defensive pressure that forced numerous turnovers. The Tigers closed the second quarter on a 16-0 run, finishing with a commanding 63–23 lead.
Tigerball maintained its momentum in the third quarter by extending its lead with a strong offensive showing. Early in the quarter, Jayden Flagg connected on a three-pointer at 9:16, quickly followed by another three-pointer from Mya Skelton at 8:59, pushing the Tigers ahead. The team continued to capitalize on turnovers, with Calee Biedron and Brooklyn Marshall adding layups to keep the scoring pressure. Holy Cross matched Olivet's scoring output for the quarter, however, going into the fourth the Tigers led 85-45.
Olivet maintained its lead throughout the fourth quarter, with a high point being Dirkse's 3-pointer at 1:59, which extended the lead to 101-61. The team capitalized on free throw opportunities, converting 8 of 10 attempts. Despite a late scoring push from the Saints, the Tigers closed out the game with a 103-65 victory.
Dirkse scored a season-high 30 points, including tying the program record with nine 3-pointers, and added two assists. Nell contributed 19 points and collected seven rebounds, while also recording 10 steals, one short of the program record. Marshall posted 11 points and eight rebounds, along with three steals.
The Tigers await to see who they will play in the CCAC Quarterfinals next Tuesday at 5:30pm in McHie Arena.
