BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – Hannah Haag led the No. 18 Olivet Nazarene University women's cross country team to a runner-up finish at the team's home meet, the Midwest Classic, Friday afternoon at the Aspen Ridge Golf Course.
Haag, who was ONU's top finisher as a freshman at the NAIA National Championship meet a season ago, crossed the finish line at 19:26.2 to place third in the 104-runner field. The Tigers had two other top-10 finishers in Aleigha Garrison and Eleanor Fournier, with the former finishing seventh at 19:39.3 and the latter placing ninth at 19:51.6.
Catherine White nearly eclipsed the 20-minute threshold, crossing the line at 20:05.4 to net a 12th-place finish. Freshman harrier Claire Carter rounded out the ONU scoring in 16th place with a time of 20:17.0.
The Tigers finished runner-up at their home meet with a final score of 47 points. The University of Chicago took the team title with a near-perfect score of 18.
ONU will now travel to Kentucky to take part in the Louisville XC Classic at Tom Sawyer State Park on Saturday, Oct. 5.
