EAST CHICAGO, Ind. – The RV Olivet Nazarene University women's soccer team clinched the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) regular season title for the eighth time in program history after defeating Calumet College of St. Joseph 10-0 to close out the regular season. The Tigers have punched their ticket to the NAIA National Tournament and will be the first overall seed in the CCAC postseason tournament.
ONU scored a season-high 10 goals in the match which saw eight different Tigers reach the scorer's sheet. Olivia Lorenc and Susanna Lindquist both recorded braces while Marissa Anderson and Melea Miller both tallied two assists for the day. Keely Francis and Tyra Gomes teamed up to add two more goals to the total. Gomes assisted Francis' goal to then quickly return the favor for the freshman's score.
The Tigers' Katie Knutte netted the game-winning goal in the 13th minute of play from an Anderson feed. Camille Cote doubled the advantage with the assist credited to Miller 10 minutes later. The Purple and Gold carried the 2-0 score line into the halftime break.
Olivet exploded for eight goals in the final 45 minutes of play. Lorenc scored twice within the first six minutes of the period. In the 57th minute, Alaina Bahr tallied her 5th goal of the campaign. Francis and Gomes combined for the following two scores in the 73rd and 76th-minute marks. Then, Lindquist rounded out the goal total with her brace in the final 12 minutes of the match.
