DAVENPORT, Iowa – The Olivet Nazarene University women's soccer program fought to a 3-3 draw with St. Ambrose on the road Wednesday night. A back-and-forth affair that witnessed three lead changes, saw Melea Miller, Sara Loichinger, and Olivia Lorenc all registering goals in the match.
SAU reached the scoreboard first as Taylor DeSpinter finished a cross from the left side of the field at the 27:12-mark. The Tigers had a quick response two minutes later as Miller leveled the score with the assist credited to Lorenc. ONU took their first lead of the match with Lorenc's goal in the 38th minute. The sophomore attacker was on the end of Abbey Cash's corner kick to send the game to the break with the Purple and Gold leading 2-1.
Halftime: Olivet Nazarene 2, St. Ambrose 1
It took 10 minutes for the Fighting Bees to tie the game up at 2-2. Hailee Wilson got on the end of a set-piece into the box and headed it into the back of the net. Sara Loichinger provided the answer for Olivet three minutes later as she sent the keeper to the left and placed her shot into the right corner. The home side pressed for an equalizer as time winded down attempting three shots without a reply. The Tigers dug in but conceded an 81st-minute goal off a St. Ambrose corner kick to once again knot the game up at 3-3. Alaina Bahr was given the match's final opportunity for a winner, but SAU's goalkeeper provided the save in the 90th minute.
