BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – The RV Olivet Nazarene University women's volleyball returned home for a Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) matchup with the Lakers of Roosevelt University on Saturday afternoon in McHie Arena. The Tigers picked up their second straight, straight sets victory, 3-0.
The Tigers started the first set with an ace by Kaitlyn McMahan. After that, the Tigers continued to control the flow of the first set. With the Tigers leading 7-4, a kill by Carleigh Johnson and an ace by Becca Bell extended the lead to 9-4. With the score at 18-15, the Tigers went on to mark six of the final seven points to win the set, 25-16. Katarina Nikolic, Sutton Bate, and Rachel Newport all tallied a kill, while Johnson sent over an ace. The Tigers sent over five service aces in the opening set.
Roosevelt grabbed the early momentum in the second set, marking 6 of the first 10 points. Since then, the Tigers came back and took a 10-7 lead. McMahan and Kelsey Todd each had a kill during that run for ONU. The Tigers never looked back and took control the rest of the set. At 15-11, three kills from Nikolic, a pair of kills for Bell, and a pair of service aces by Reaghan Bible sparked an 8-3 Tiger run as they took a 23-13 lead. ONU went on to win the second set, 25-17. Bate led the Tigers with six kills, while Bell and Nikolic followed with five kills.
The Tigers started the third set marking 6 of the first 10 points. Bate, Kaylee Cozen, and Johnson all marked kills. At 11-6, Tigers, a kill from Bate and a pair of kills from Halle Nicholas extended the ONU lead to 14-6. The Tigers, like the first two sets, controlled the set and led by as much as 10 points.
Kaitlyn Kolb and Johnson sent over the final three points for the Tigers as they took the third set, 25-17, and took the match, 3-0.
