BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – The Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) selected Olivet Nazarene University women's track and field athletes Linda Griffith and Madeleine Robinson Track and Field Athletes of the Week. The league announced its selections on Wednesday. Griffith earned her first Track Athlete of the Week this season while Robinson earned her second Field Athlete of the Week honor this season.
Griffith had a strong first weekend of the outdoor season at the Don McGarey Invitational this past weekend. Griffith and her 4x100 meter relay team set a new school record finishing the race in 47.37 seconds, earning both an "A" and "B" qualifying standard. Griffith also earned an "A" and "B" qualifying standard as she finished second in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 61.96 seconds. Griffith also was the highest Tiger finisher in the 200-meter dash as she placed 14th out of 83 athletes with a time of 25.50 seconds. Currently, the Tiger sophomore sprinter is first in the CCAC in the 400-meter hurdles, the 200-meter dash and in the 4x100 and 4x400 meter relays.
Robinson, like Griffith, had an outstanding showing at the Don McGarey Invitational this past weekend. Robinson picked up a pair of "B" qualifying standards with one being in the hammer throw with a mark of 49.60 meters and the other being in the shot put with a mark of 13.50 meters. Robinson placed second in the hammer throw and third in the shot put. The Tiger thrower also competed in the discus and finished in ninth place with a mark of 36.37 meters. Robinson is currently first in the CCAC in the hammer throw and shot put and is third in the discus.
The Tigers travel to Benedictine University for the Eagle Open on Saturday, April 2nd. Action starts at 11 a.m.
