BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – The Olivet Nazarene University women's tennis team opened its postseason run by taking down St. Ambrose 4-2 in the semifinal round of the CCAC Tournament Wednesday afternoon at Snowbarger.
Natasha Nieto and Rafaela Luna only dropped one game in their 6-1 win in the top doubles match. That, paired with a 6-4 victory for Chieh-Yu Chen and Savannah Amatyleon at No. 2, earned the Tigers the doubles point.
ONU quickly followed up with straight-set wins in the top two singles matches to race out to a 3-0 advantage. Nieto was near perfect with a 6-0, 6-2 triumph in the No. 1 match while Chen won 6-0, 6-7 at No. 2 to put the Tigers one point away from victory.
And that point came from Jori Lambert, who earned a 6-4, 7-5 victory in the No. 5 match to cap off the win and advance the Tigers to the championship match.
The Tigers will play for the CCAC banner Friday at defending champion Holy Cross.
