KENTWOOD, Mich. – The No. 1 Olivet Nazarene University women's swim and dive team competed in the Don Kimble Invite hosted by NCAA Division II Davenport University on Friday, November 19 through Sunday, November 22. The Tigers finished in fifth out of six teams in this competitive field which included NCAA D2 opponents Davenport, Saginaw Valley State, Hillside College, Wayne State, and NAIA school Aquinas College.
The Tigers opened the meet with a fourth-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay. The team of Ashley Parry, Halle Briner, Julie Vega, and Allison Pearson clocked a time of 1:37.44. In their next relay, the team of Paige Howell, Megan Schroeder, Parry, and Pearson finish as the 400-yard medley relay runner-up with a time of 3:50.87. The Tigers then saw Schroeder win the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:03.47, which is good for an A-Cut standard in the NAIA. In the same race, Vega finished third with a time of 1:04.78 and Pearson finishing in fourth with a time of 1:05.40. Vega and Pearson, like Schroeder, made the A-Cut Standards in this race.
In the 100-backstroke, Howell finished in first-place in the "B" division with a time of 58.97. Howell then took third place in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:04.71. Vega and Schroeder continued to dominate the breaststroke events as they took the first two places in the 200-yard breaststroke with times of 2:19.74 and 2:20.68, respectively. Both of those times hit the A-Cut standard. A couple of events later, Pearson won the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:07.94, earning an A-Cut Standard.
In other results, diver Teagon Albert returned to the pool and broke her school records that she set last season in the 1 and 3m dive. Albert recorded scores of 288.95 in the 1m diving event and 252.55 in the 3m diving event.
This meet, combined, from the men's and women's side, saw six A-Cut Standards, 23 B-Cut Standards, and 38 personal bests.
