JOLIET, Ill. – Olivet Nazarene University's (ONU) women's soccer team battled to a 1-1 draw against the University of St. Francis on Saturday in a hard-fought conference match. Despite strong efforts on both ends of the field, the Tigers were unable to find the game-winner and came away with a point on the road.
The first half saw both teams pressing for an early advantage, but it was St. Francis who broke the deadlock in the 23rd minute, taking a 1-0 lead. The ONU defense held strong for the remainder of the half, keeping the Fighting Saints from extending their lead. Despite a few attacking opportunities, ONU went into the halftime break down by one.
The second half saw a shift in momentum as ONU picked up the intensity. In the 58th minute, Melea Miller found the equalizer, assisted by Aaliyah Racadio-Kahoohanohano, bringing the score to 1-1. The Tigers pressed for a winning goal, but both defenses held firm for the rest of the match, and the game ended in a stalemate.
Looking Ahead
The Tigers will continue their road campaign with a conference match against the Saints of Holy Cross College on October 9th with kickoff set for 3:30 p.m. CST. ONU will look to secure three points as they continue their push in conference play.
