CHICAGO, Ill. – Olivet Nazarene University's Hannah Antkoviak and Vince Giuliano each broke school records and hit NAIA "A" standards to sweep this week's edition of the CCAC Track Athlete of the Week awards, the league office announced Wednesday.
Antkoviak was also named the NAIA's and USTFCCCA's Women's Track Athlete of the Week for her outstanding weekend on the oval.
Antkoviak turned in a record-setting performance, as well, with her effort in the 400-meter event at the Gibson Invitational on Saturday. Her time of 58.81 seconds was not only the fastest time at the meet and in the history of ONU track, but it also marked the fastest time in the NAIA this spring.
That "A" standard mark was one of three registered by Antkoviak on the day. It was also met in the 100-meter hurdles, where her 13.85-second time ranks fifth-fastest in the NAIA this spring, and as part of the 4x100-meter relay team. With the latter event, the Tiger relay team placed seventh out of 14 squads with a time of 47.13 seconds.
Antkoviak matched her third-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles with another third-place showing as part of the 4x400-meter relay. In that event, a total of ten teams were part of the field with ONU running a 3:58.16.
Giuliano was named the CCAC Track Athlete of the Week after breaking school records in both the 200- and 400-meter dashes on Saturday at the Gibson Invitational, which featured competition from multiple NCAA I and II programs.
The junior won the 200-meter dash in 20.59 seconds, besting 55 other challengers. He followed that up with a runner-up finish in the 400-meter dash (47.87 seconds) amongst 49 competitors.
Giuliano also competed as part of ONU's 4x100-meter relay team, which notched an NAIA "A" mark with its time of 41.04 seconds and placed fifth among 13 teams.
