TIGERS CLAIMED THE TITLE AT THE BUMBLE RUMBLE

DAVENPORT, Iowa—The Olivet Nazarene men's track and field team competed in its first road meet traveling to Saint Ambrose for the Bumble Rumble on Friday afternoon.

 

The Tigers won the meet with 147 points while William Penn and meet host Saint Ambrose rounded out the top three with 88 and 82 points, respectively.     

 

The Tigers saw three first-place finishes in the running events.  Vince Giuliano won first in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.33.  Giuliano followed that with a fourth-place finish in the 60-yard dash with a time of 7.06 seconds.  The Tigers kept up their success in the sprint races as Ben Tavares grabbed first at the podium with a time of 51.81 in the 400-meter dash.  Skyler Blanton raced to a fifth-place finish in the event. In the middle-distance races, the Tigers grabbed multiple podium finishes.  Erik Richter won the 1000-meter run with a time of 2:33.59 while Max Grant and Ethan Hodel finished the race in second and fourth, respectively. 

 

The Tigers carried their momentum into the field events.  ONU saw a pair of first-place finishers with Francisco Benavides winning the high jump and Noah Sears grabbing the pole vault title.  The Tigers also saw Austin Kasap grab a runner-up finish in the weight throw while Ivan Williams and Alex Powell finished in third in the long and triple jump, respectively. 

 

The team of Hodel, Giuliano, Grant, and Ethan Piacenti finished the meet for the Tigers as they won the 4x400 meter relay with a time of 3:29.14. The Tigers win the meet marking 147 points.

The Tigers host the ONU Invitational on Saturday, January 29th inside the Perry Student Life and Recreation Center.  The meet will start at 10 a.m.
