KLENNER PACES ONU MEN'S SWIM AND DIVE AT BETHEL UNIVERSITY TOURNAMENT

MISHAWAKA, Ind. – The Olivet Nazarene University men's swim and dive team competed in the Bethel University Tournament at the Elkhart Aquatics Center on Saturday.  The Tigers took down Lincoln College, 199-41, and defeated tournament host, Bethel, 181-87. 

 

The Tigers kicked off the meet with a victory in the 400-yard Medley Relay.  The team of Nicholas Klenner, Alejandro Evreinoff-Salinas, Christian Mikrut, and Timothy Braun finished with a time of 3:32.27.  Then Mason Beall followed that performance with a win, in the 1650-yard freestyle, by nearly 13 with a time of 17:29.68.  Braun, following his performance in the 400-yard Medley Relay, won the 200-yard freestyle clocking a time of 1:47.04.  Erik Firganek finished as the runner-up with a time of 1:47.85.  Liam Kuiper, Klenner, and Chase Aruskevicus finished first, second, and third in the 100-yard backstroke.  Kuiper edged out Klenner by 23 tenths-of-a-second, in the race. 

 

Evreinoff-Salinas then won the 100-yard breaststroke race finishing with a time of 58.92.  Connor Harrison and Mikrut finished first and second in the 200-yard butterfly with times of 1:56.71 and 1:57.65.  Braun then continued his impressive day as he won the 50-yard freestyle race clocking in a time of 21.84.  In his debut in the pool, Kyle Lovell placed second in the 1-meter dive with a score of 160.90.  In the next swim race, Harrison picked up the win in the 100-yard freestyle and Beall placed third in the race. 

 

The Tigers kept up their winning ways into the 200-yard backstroke as Klenner brought home the crown with a time of 1:52.67.  Aruskevicius finished as the runner-up in the race.  Harrison then followed up his performance in the 100-yard freestyle and won the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 52.26.  Kuiper then won the 400-yard IM race with a time of 4:19.09. 

 

The Tigers finished out the meet taking the first two places in the 400-yard freestyle relay.  The Tigers wiped out the competition at the Bethel Tournament.

WHAT'S NEXT?

The Tigers host the annual Toby the Tiger Invitational on Friday and Saturday, November 12-13.  The meet on Friday will start at 4 p.m. and Saturday will start at 10 a.m.
