KODAK, Tenn. – After nearly five months off from competition, the Olivet Nazarene University men's golf team returned to action with a fifth-place finish at the Island Pointe Intercollegiate Thursday and Friday at the Island Pointe Golf Club.
The Tigers finished with a final score of 643 strokes across the two-round tournament to land in a three-way tie for fifth with Holy Cross and Huntington. Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College (ABAC) won the 12-team event with a score of 611.
Sophomore Chris Brown led the ONU with a top-10 placement, carding two sub-80 rounds at 79 and 77 for a 156 to tie for eighth place. Luke Martin nearly cracked the top 10, finishing one stroke behind his teammate in tying for 11th overall at 157 (76-81).
Joseph Luchtenburg (164) and Hunter Trainer (165) rounded out the ONU scoring with 30th- and 37th-place finishes, respectively. Jack Busch also competed for the Tigers in the event.
ONU will be back on the links this weekend to compete in the Purgatory Intercollegiate in Noblesville, Ind.
