Dexter, Philson named CoSIDA Academic All-District-College Division selections

BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – Two Olivet Nazarene University football players were named CoSIDA Academic All-District-College Division selections for District 2. Drew Philson (JR/Horton, Mich.) is among four other defensive backs and Thomas Dexter (SR/Canal Winchester, Ohio) is among four defensive linemen and a total of 25 members on this year's District 2 selections. A total of 87 individuals were named Academic All-District selections. Philson and Dexter are now eligible for vote to be named to one of the CoSIDA Academic All-America® teams.

Thomas Dexter is a zoology major and currently has a 3.72 GPA. Drew Philson is an actuarial science major and has a GPA of 3.97. Both have started all nine games for the Tigers this season. Dexter has 57 tackles, 13.5 for loss and Philson has 48 tackles and two fumble recoveries, one for a 77-yard touchdown return.

Nominations for the Academic All-America® program will be accepted only from current dues-paying CoSIDA members. CoSIDA members may nominate student-athletes only from their own institution. To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution. Nominated athletes must have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's games at the position listed on the nomination form (where applicable). No student-athlete is eligible until he/she has completed one full calendar year at his/her current institution and has reached sophomore athletic eligibility.
