CHICAGO, Ill. - A weekend sweep capped a perfect seven-day stretch for Olivet Nazarene University baseball, resulting in a clean sweep of the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference's weekly honors for the period ending April 5.
Freshman infielder Jude Coursey earned CCAC Player of the Week after a dominant four-game showing in which he hit .643 (9-for-14) with a 1.000 slugging percentage, fueled by two doubles and his first collegiate home run. Coursey drove in six runs, posted multiple RBIs in three games, and highlighted the weekend with a flawless 4-for-4 performance in an 8-7 win over Calumet College of St. Joseph. He was also perfect defensively, converting all 15 fielding chances without an error.
On the mound, senior right-hander Nicholas Gniedziejko secured CCAC Pitcher of the Week recognition by throwing his second shutout of the season in a 7-0 victory Saturday. Gniedziejko allowed just three baserunners on two hits and a walk while striking out 10 over seven innings.
