ELGIN, Ill. – After suffering a five-set defeat to St. Francis (Ill.) Tuesday night, the Olivet Nazarene University women's volleyball team flipped the script to take down the Judson Eagles in five sets on the road Thursday night.
The Tigers had their backs against the wall against Judson, facing a 2-1 deficit heading into the fourth set. A pair of points from Julianne Kielion via service ace and a kill gave the Tigers an 8-6 lead midway through the set, but the Eagles would score 10 of the next 13 points to stack a five-point lead.
Two kills from Kaylee Cozen and another from Halle Nicholas got the score to within one before Kielion went on a six-point service streak to give the Tigers the lead and the momentum. Two ensuing Eagle errors gave the Tigers the set and forced a fifth set.
ONU left no doubt in the final set. Nicholas secured the first three points with a kill and back-to-back service aces. Another pair of back-to-back aces for the Tigers, coming from Karsyn Delbridge, gave the Tigers a big seven-point lead in decisive set. Techiya Jackson put the game away with a kill to cement the ONU comeback victory.
