TIGERS LEAVE FLORIDA EMPTY-HANDED; DROP FINAL TWO MATCHES OF CHIC-FIL-A CLASSIC

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - The Olivet Nazarene University women's volleyball team wrapped up their Florida trip with a final pair of matches in the Chic-Fil-A Classic hosted by Keiser University. The Tigers kept it competitive but ultimately left Florida empty-handed, dropping both matches in straight sets.

First Match: Dakota Wesleyan 3, Olivet Nazarene 0

ONU and Dakota Wesleyan went back and forth for the first nine points of the set. Kaylee Cozen put away a ball from Hadleigh Loitz to give the Tigers a 5-4 lead before Dakota Wesleyan rattled off six-straight points, going on to take the set 25-12.

The second set started strong for ONU, building an 8-3 lead after a service ace from Tya Weideman and a kill from Sophia Johnston. Dakota Wesleyan came storming back, however, with five-straight points to tie the game at eight-all. The Tigers did all they could to keep pace but couldn't muster enough points to take the set.

Kylie Hasselbacher came out firing in the third set, putting away back-to-back kills to open it up. The Tigers kept it competitive until Dakota Wesleyan fired off 10-straight points to put the set and the match out of reach.

Second Match: College of St. Mary 3, Olivet Nazarene 0

ONU took on the College of St. Mary in their final game of the Chic-Fil-A Classic, and the match was competitive from start to finish. The Tigers came roaring back from a 20-12 deficit in the first set, collecting seven-of-nine points to cut the lead to three. But the Flames had the fortitude to hold off the Tigers and take down the first set 25-20.

The Flames handled their business in the second set, scoring seven-consecutive points to keep the Tigers at bay. After the Tigers surrendered the first four points of the third set, they answered back with four-consecutive points of their own later in the set to cut the Flame deficit to two. Kaitlyn Kolb kept the deficit at two with a kill set up by Karsyn Delbridge, but that was the closest ONU would get in the set, dropping their fourth match and final match of the tournament 3-0.
