LOICHINGER SCORES TWICE AS ONU TAKE DOWN THE TROLLS

BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – The Olivet Nazarene University women's soccer program took down the Trinity Christian Trolls Tuesday night to remain undefeated in the CCAC. Sara Loichinger scored two free-kick goals in the first half and the Tigers held on late to claim the victory at home.

In a match that last year saw the two sides play out a 4-3 thriller with the Tigers coming out on top, the rematch 12 months later did not disappoint. Loichinger put ONU in front in the 21st minute of play. The senior midfielder caught the TCC goalkeeper setting up her wall without the referee signaling that play could not start without his whistle. This allowed the New Lenox, Ill. native to quickly strike a shot into the left corner. 11 minutes later, Melea Miller broke the back line with a one-on-one opportunity with the visiting goalkeeper. Miller drew a hard foul outside the penalty area as her shot went wide. This allowed Loichinger to step up and score her second free-kick goal of the night. ONU went into halftime with a two-goal cushion.

Halftime: Olivet Nazarene 2, Trinity Christian 0

Olivet kept the pressure on looking for the third goal to put the Trolls away. Against the run of play, TCC drew a free kick on the edge of the Tigers' 18-yard box. Selah Hopkins buried the set piece and halved the ONU lead at the 65:37-mark. The Purple and Gold did not give up much after that as they managed the clock for the remaining 24 minutes to pick up win number 4 on the year.
