CHICAGO, Ill. --- A career-best effort from Olivet Nazarene University's Taylor Vallangeon (Columbus, Ohio) has earned the senior his third Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week award, the league office announced on Wednesday morning.
Vallangeon was the top performer among CCAC runners at the Aquinas College (Mich.) NAIA Great Lakes Challenge on Saturday. Not only did he set a personal mark at one of the premier small-college running events in the Midwest, he also recorded the fifth-fastest time in Olivet Nazarene program history.
Vallangeon's time of 24:46.2 on the 8K course placed him eighth in a field of 239 runners and aided his team's 12th-place finish out of 28 squads.
Vallangeon and the Tigers will now enter the postseason, traveling to Joliet, Ill. to take on their conference foes in the CCAC Cross Country Championships on Nov. 5.
