Vallangeon and Vargas Sweep CCAC Runner of the Week Honors

CHICAGO—Olivet Nazarene University men's cross country runner Taylor Vallangeon and women's cross country runner Sarai Vargas swept Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Runners of the Week honors as the league announced its selections on Wednesday morning. 

 

In the season opener at the Purdue Northwest XC Classic, Vallangeon won the men's race and raced to the fifth fastest time in school history with a final time of 24:45.6. The Columbus, Ohio native is also the eighth runner in school history to run sub 25 minutes. Vallangeon also broke the course record in his race and he led the Tigers to a team victory at the meet.   

 

In her season opener at the Purdue Northwest XC Classic, Vargas won the women's race and raced to a time of 19:14.23. Vargas led the Tigers to a team victory at the meet.

 

The Tigers host the Midwest Intercollegiate meet at the Aspen Ridge Golf Course on Friday, September 17th with the women's race starting at 4:30 p.m. and the men's race will commence at 5:15 p.m.
