WESTFIELD, Ind. – The Olivet Nazarene University cross country teams opened its seasons at the Purdue Northwest Cross Country Classic on Friday night. The No. 22 women's team won the team championship 18 to 40 over the host Purdue Northwest, while the No. 18 men's team took the meet with 22 points. 

Sarai Vargas won the women's 5k race with a time of 19:14.23 while Jaclyn Latocha finished in second overall, running a time of 19:27.59.  Eleanor Fournier, Jacey Schickel, and Lauren Smith finished in 4^th, 5^th, and 6^th, respectively.  Elise Champlin finished in 8^th and Kathryn Swanson rounded out the Tiger women finishers with a 12^th place finish. 

Taylor Vallangeon won the men's 8k race with a time of 24:45.61.  Vallengeon's time is the fourth fastest 8k time in school history and is the seventh runner to break 25 minutes in school history. Hayden Colclasure finished as a runner-up clocking in a time of 25:08.14, which the eighth fastest 8k time in school history.  Following Colclasure was Boston Brooks, Nate Mayo, and Alexander Smith, who finished in 6^th, 7^th, and 8^th, respectively.  Payton Domagaliski and Jacob Fryer rounded out the Tigers and finished in 10^th and 18^th, respectively.

WHAT'S NEXT?

The Tigers host the Midwest Intercollegiate at the Aspen Ridge Golf Course on Friday, September 17^th.  The women's race will begin at 3:30 p.m. and the men's race will begin at 4:15 p.m.
