CHICAGO, Ill. – Helping lead the Tigers to a perfect 3-0 week during the seven-day period ending March 5, Olivet Nazarene University's Jake Ostema has claimed his first Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference men's volleyball weekly honor of the season. The league made the announcement Tuesday afternoon.
Ostema was named the CCAC Defender of the Week. The senior middle hitter recorded 13 blocks over 10 sets (1.3 avg.) with no less than three blocks in any one match. He also averaged 1.8 kills per set and had a .344 attack percentage.
Ostema's biggest match came in a four-set win over St. Ambrose University on Thursday, where he recorded six blocks. He had another four in a three-set win against Cardinal Stritch University last Tuesday.
Winners of eight matches in a row, Olivet Nazarene is 13-3 overall and 8-1 against CCAC competition.
