RV ONU CLAIMS CCAC TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONSHIP IN 4-0 VICTORY OVER GSU

BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – The (RV) Olivet Nazarene men's soccer team claimed the CCAC Tournament Championship with a 4-0 victory over the Governors State University Jaguars Saturday. The Tigers win the title for the first time since 2016 completing the double winning both the regular season and tournament awards. They await their NAIA Tournament opponent to which will be announced Monday at noon.

For the second consecutive game, Max Jasper got the Tigers off to a great start finding the back of the next within the first 10 minutes of the game. Marten Imping switched the field finding Justin Eisenmann on the right flank. Eisenmann picked out Jasper with a first-time service leading to the finish. The Jaguars were close to equalizing in the 31st minute when a deep cross found an attacker at the far post. Mike Giannotta did well to deny GSU twice to parry away the danger. Within the final two minutes of the first half, Eisenmann broke Governors State's backline forcing the Jaguar goalkeeper into an incredible save diving to his left to keep it a one-goal game heading into the break.

Justin Eisenmann found the goal he was looking for to break open the game in the 61st minute. James Lynch was brought on at halftime and fed a ball to Eisenmann poaching at the back post for a tap-in finish. With GSU desperate for an answer to get back in the game, the Tigers punished them with two more goals in the waning minutes of the match. Edgar Pani was brought into the attack with 24 minutes left to play. Nick Kilian curled a ball into Pani's path, leading to the match's third goal with 8 minutes left in regulation. Max Jasper tied a bow on the proceedings in the 90th minute with a laced half-volley that beat the keeper to his left side.
