PENALTY KICK DOOMS TIGERS IN OVERTIME TO ROOSEVELT

Arlington Heights, Ill. – The Olivet Nazarene men's soccer team fell to the Roosevelt Lakers 3-2 Saturday night on the road in overtime. The Tigers drop to 10-3 overall and 7-2 in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC).

A fast start was ignited by Justin Eisenmann's goal to open the scoring. A cross from Nick Killian was deflected into the path of Eisenmann who played it into the back of the net just five minutes after kick-off. The Lakers quickly responded in the 12th minute to equalize from a set-piece that was nodded in by a Roosevelt attacker. Fabio Hasler drew a penalty kick a the 16:22 mark to give Max Jasper an opportunity to regain the lead. Jasper calmly placed it into the left corner for his 12th goal of the season. Another set-piece brought Roosevelt level once again. This time, a corner kick in the 31st minute was redirected into the net to level the score. Despite a four-goal first half, the game was deadlocked at the intermission.

Neither team could find a winner in regulation. Nothing could separate the sides as they were level on shots with five each and Olivet only tallied one more corner kick over Roosevelt; 4-3. ONU turned up the pressure late as they won consecutive corner kicks and created two chances that missed their mark in the 83rd minute. The contest turned to extra time to decide the winner.
