BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – The Olivet Nazarene men's soccer team downed the Saint Ambrose Fighting Bees, 4-0, Wednesday night at Snowbarger Athletic Complex. Max Jasper completed the natural hattrick to power the Tigers to the win and improve to 5-1 overall, 2-0 in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) play while handing Saint Ambrose their first loss of the year.
The Tigers came out on the front foot of the match. They were the epitome of efficiency, scoring three goals on their first seven registered shots in the first 23 minutes of the match. ONU opened the scoring with a nifty play down the right side of the field. Fabio Hasler found an open Justin Eisenmann for the first-time finish into the top right corner of the net at the 4:40 mark. The Max Jasper and Nick Kilian combination recorded the next two goals. Jasper's second goal was a rocket past the Fighting Bees netminder's head who couldn't see the shot till it already hit the back of the net. Olivet Nazarene was in full control heading into the break, up 3-0.
Halftime: Olivet Nazarene 3, Saint Ambrose 0
Jasper completed the hattrick in the 54th minute as he dashed down the right sideline using his strength to fight off the defender. A juke on the goalkeeper allowed the easy finish with the assist tagged to Eisenmann. Saint Ambrose's Ricky Rueda was shown his second yellow of the game resulting in his ejection at the 57:00 mark that effectively nullified any opportunity for a comeback. The Tigers outshot the Fighting Bees 23-5 with Mike Giannotta recording his second shutout of the season and the team's fourth this campaign.
