BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – A big day on the gridiron for Abe Flores-Cuen of the Olivet Nazarene University football team has earned him the Mid-States Football Association Midwest League Defensive Player of the Week award, the league office announced Monday.

The senior linebacker made his presence known often throughout ONU's big 21-6 win over Saint Xavier Saturday, leading the team with 13 tackles in the conference victory. Flores-Cuen also recorded 1.5 sacks, 2.5 tackles for loss, and a fumble recovery while anchoring the defense that left the Cougars off the scoreboard in the second half.

This marks the first-career MSFA Player of the Week award for the Yuma, Ariz., native.

Flores-Cuen and the Tigers will look to build off the victory when they travel to Judson this weekend.
