TIGERS SUFFER STRAIGHT-SET DEFEAT IN REGULAR-SEASON FINALE

DAVENPORT, lowa - In the final game of the regular season, the Olivet Nazarene University women's volleyball fell in straight-sets 25-23, 25-19, 25-20 to the Fighting Bees of St. Ambrose in Lee Lohman Arena Thursday afternoon.

ONU held a two-point lead midway through the first set after Sophia Johnston put away a kill to make it 11-9. Both squads went back-and-forth on the scoreboard until the Tigers broke away, sitting two points away from taking the opening set against the No. 2 team in the CCAC. However, the Tigers couldn't find those final two points as the Bees came soaring back with six-unanswered points to steal the first set.

Kaylee Cozen scored back-to-back points, one off a kill followed up by a service ace, to break a 15-15 tie in the second set. The Bees would then close out the set on a 10-2 run to take a 2-0 lead into the third set.

In the third set, Johnston hammered down a kill to knot the game at 19-19 down the stretch. However, back-to-back kills from the Bees gave SAU a lead they would hold on to for the remainder of the match. Kelsey Todd tallied a kill to make it a one-point game, but the Bees would rally for four-straight points to take the set and the match.
