BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – On Saturday, the Olivet Nazarene University women's track and field team, who were ranked 15th in the latest USTFCCCA rankings, hosted the ONU Tiger Open at Ward Field. ONU saw various qualifying standards and personal records (PRs) on the day.
The Tigers had a strong showing on the track. Kimberly Brent started the day off for the Tigers as she broke the school record for the fastest 100-meter dash time with 12.20 seconds. Brent finished second in the race. Tera Miller finished fourth in the race. In the 200-meter dash, Linda Griffith and Miller finished in first and second-place with times of 25.07 and 25.17 seconds. In the 800-meter run, Lindsay DiazDeLeon finished third in the race with a time of 2:25.37. The Tigers then dominated the 100-hurdles and took the first, second, and fourth place finishes. Griffth finished first with a time of 14.94 seconds, while Hannah Antkoviak and Meghann Cullen finished second and fourth. In the 400-hurdles, after a sixth-place finish in 100-hurdles, Emma Betts won the event with a time of 1:08.20. The Tigers then took the second and third place finishes in the 3000-meter steeplechase.
Just like on the men's side, the Tigers won both the 4x100 and 4x400 meter relays. ONU's 4x100 meter relay team reached the "A" and "B" qualifying standards for the second straight meet with a time of 47.42 seconds, while the 4x400 meter relay team finished in 4:10.97.
In the field events, Lynette Latocha won the high jump with a mark of 1.70 meters. Latocha achieved the "A" and "B" qualifying standards and is tied for fourth in the NAIA in the event. In the pole vault, Olivia Earl finished second with a mark of 3.55 meters. Earl achieved the "B" qualifying standard and is 12th in the nation in the pole vault. Madeline Manganiello then finished third in the triple jump with a final mark of 11.11 meters.
In the throwing events, Madeleine Robinson earned the "A" and "B" qualifying standards in the shot put with a mark of 13.55 meters. Robinson is currently 12th in the NAIA in the event. Robinson also won the hammer throw with a mark of 53.74 meters. The Tiger senior also reached the "A" and "B" standards and is sixth in the NAIA in the event. Courtney Hall was the runner-up in the event with a mark of 49.91 meters. Hall's mark is good for a "B" standard and is currently 12th in the NAIA in the event. In the discus throw, Kayla Mikottis placed second with a mark of 42.27 meters. The Tigers closed the meet with the javelin throw and saw Avery Spencer place third and Manganiello finish fourth.
