BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – The No. 2 Olivet Nazarene University women's swim and dive team hosted the ONU Senior Meet inside the Perry Student Life and Recreation Center on Saturday. The Tigers hosted a pair of NCAA Division two schools: Lewis University and Davenport University. ONU defeated Lewis 173-101 and Davenport 164-110.
The Tigers started the meet on a positive note as the team of Paige Howell, Julie Vega, Ashley Parry, and reigning KCAC Women's Swimmer of the Month Addison Daily took second in the 200-yard medley relay. The Lewis team edged out the Tigers by 66-tenths-of-a-second. A couple of events later, Parry won the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:56.85. Then, Howell and Halle Briner finish first and second in the 100-yard backstroke clocking in times of 1:01.44 and 1:02.21. Maylee Lingle finished fourth in the race.
In the next event, the Tigers kept up the pace as Megan Schroeder won the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:06.40. Vega and Allison Pearson finished third and fourth in the race, respectively. Parry kept up her impressive day as she won the 200-yard butterfly, finishing with a time of 2:10.05. In a very competitive 50-yard freestyle, Helina Reyes won the race, clocking in a time of 24.83. Reyes took that momentum from the 50-yard freestyle into the 100-yard freestyle as she finished on top of the podium, clocking in a time of 54.16. Briner and Schroeder finished second and third in the race. A couple of events later, Howell won the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:12.83. Reyes, then kept up her dominance in the pool as she picked up her third victory of the day, winning the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:00.14.
The Tigers finished the meet winning the final race of the afternoon, the 200-yard freestyle relay, as the took first out of three schools.
