NO.2 TIGERS TOP WILDCATS IN THE TOBY THE TIGER INVITATIONAL

BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – The No. 2 Olivet Nazarene University swim and dive team hosted the Indiana Wesleyan University Wildcats in the Toby the Tiger Invitational at the Perry SLRC on Friday and Saturday.  The Tigers claimed a 226-105 win over those Wildcats. 

 

The Tigers started the meet with two relay victories in the 800-yard freestyle and 200-yard freestyle relay. Julie Vega then finished first in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:11.18. Ashley Parry and Addison Daily then finished first and second in the 100-yard butterfly.  Halle Briner, Carley Logan, and Emma Norman rounded out the top three spots in the 200-yard freestyle.  Briner won the race by eight-tenths-of-a-second over Logan.  The Tigers kept up their dominance as Megan Schroeder, Allison Pearson, and Vega finished in the first three spots in the 100-yard breaststroke. The Tigers then saw Paige Howell winning the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:00.22.

 

The Tigers continued to rack up the victories as the team of Howell, Schroeder, Parry, and Pearson won the 400-yard medley relay by nearly nine seconds over a team from Indiana Wesleyan.  Howell completed the sweep of the backstroke events as she finished on top of the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:10.12.   In the next race, Helina Reyes edged out Briner for the win in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 54.64.  Briner finished second in the race with a time of 54.93. Then, Vega, Pearson, and Payton DeZur finished in first, second, and third in the 200-yard breaststroke.  In the next race, Parry swept the butterfly races winning the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:07.53.  Parry won the race by 13 seconds. 

 

The Tigers finished the dual with a victory in the 400-yard freestyle relay as they defeated the Wildcats 225-105 in the Toby the Tiger Invitational.

The Tigers travel to Kentwood, Mich. for the Davenport Invitational on Friday, November 19 through Sunday, November 22.  Friday's action will start at 5 p.m., while Saturday and Sunday's action begin at 9 a.m.
