ONU AND SXU SETTLE FOR 0-0 DRAW IN CCAC MID-WEEK PLAY

CHICAGO, Ill. – The Olivet Nazarene women's soccer program and the Saint Xavier University Cougars settled for a 0-0 draw after 110 minutes played Tuesday night on the road. The Tigers put 15 shots on target, but could not find the breakthrough.

ONU put the pressure on early recording the first five shots of the contest and winning the first two corner kicks in the first 15min. The pressure almost paid off with an Abbey Cash corner finding the head of Emily Greene whose redirection struck the crossbar. SXU had a 90 second run of play rifling two shot attempts, one of which forced Tessa Kowalski into her first save of the match. From then on, the play went all Olivet's way tallying eight consecutive efforts towards the goal. All either missed the mark or were stopped by the Saint Xavier netminder to keep the game scoreless at the break.

Halftime: Olivet Nazarene 0, Saint Xavier 0

Saint Xavier imposed their physical prowess to disrupt the Olivet Nazarene attack. The Cougars conceded five fouls within the first 10 minutes of the period. They accounted for a total of 19 fouls for the entire match. They built off this defensive pressure and found the back of the net in the 54th minute, but play was called back for an offside call. After the rocky start, the Tigers found their footing looking to find a late game-winner. A first-time shot by Teagon Albert at the top of the 18-yard box forced SXU's Morgan Demagall into a diving save to send the game to extra time.

End of Regulation: Olivet Nazarene 0, Saint Xavier 0

A couple of 10-minute extra time periods was not enough to separate the two sides. The Tigers had moments from set-pieces. Marissa Anderson's header caused a frenzy inside the Saint Xavier six-yard box in the 96th minute but the cougars cleared their lines to see off the danger. The final moments saw Albert put one last attempt on goal but was not enough to beat Demagall who recorded a career-high 19 saves in the contest as both teams earned a point a-piece.
