HOWARD, ICE EARN TOP AWARDS IN CCAC POSTSEASON HONOR ROLL

CHICAGO, Ill.Lizzie Howard and Taylor Ice earned the two highest postseason distinctions as they were named the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference's (CCAC) Women's Golf Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year, respectively.

The two golfers were also selected to the conference's five-member first team. Mya Jones and Bella Rosado were named to the second team, as the CCAC announced its postseason women's golf awards Thursday.

The awards come on the heels of Olivet earning its second consecutive runner-up finish at the CCAC Championships. It also marked the fourth straight year that ONU has had at least two players named to the conference's first team.

Howard, the 2023 CCAC Freshman of the Year, gained the top award this time around as the league's Player of the Year while being named to the all-conference first team for the third year in a row. The junior from Dunlap, Ill., posted the lowest average in the conference at 86.35 over 20 rounds played, with her top efforts being a pair of 78's.

Of the 11 matches Howard competed in, she came away with Top 10 honors seven times, highlighted by her medalist honors at the CCAC Championships, where she shot a 168 over the two-round tournament (81-87). She was also fourth at the Clash at Cinder and fifth at both the Island Point Intercollegiate and the Conference Clash.

Ice was tabbed as the conference's top freshman after averaging an 86.76 over her 21 rounds played, with five Top 10 finishes. The Salem, Ill., native won the Conference Clash with her 172 over two rounds (82-90), while also placing third in the Clash at Cinder and tying for fourth at the Clarke Fall Invite. Her best round was a 77 at the Rumble at the Rock.

Jones and Rosado earned their first distinctions from the CCAC this season, with both golfers being named to the conference's second team. Jones, a sophomore from Grand Rapids, Mich., averaged an 89.71 over 21 rounds on the year. Rosado, a freshman from Rockford, Ill., posted a 90.52 average in her 21 rounds this season.
