WILMINGTON, Ill. – Three members of the Olivet Nazarene University women's golf team made the all-tournament team to secure a runner-up finish at their home tournament, the Clash at Cinder, Monday and Tuesday at the Cinder Ridge Golf Course.
Taylor Ice led the charge for ONU with a 164 in the 36-hole event. After firing an 83 in the opening round, the freshman cut two strokes off her closing round to slide up into sole possession of third place overall.
Two-time CCAC Women's Golfer of the Week Lizzie Howard was just one shot behind her teammate, carding the team's best round of the tournament with a six-over 78 Monday before finishing with an 87 Tuesday to place fourth.
Amelia Birge was the third Tiger to make the all-tournament team with her 169 (82-87) to tie for fifth place. Bella Rosado was one stroke back of Birge, rounding out the ONU scoring with a seventh-place finish at 170 (87-83). Mya Jones improved by five strokes in the second round to place 11th (91-86=177).
The Tigers opened with a 330 Monday before tapering off with a 337 Tuesday for a 667 total score, just seven strokes behind tournament-winner Huntington at 660.
ONU also fielded a second team at their home tournament. Alexa Scalise led that squad with a 199 (100-99), earning herself a tie for 15th place. Jasmine Essington, Lauren Fox, and Paige Stoelzle also competed for the Tigers.
The Purple & Yellow Gold will now compete in the Missouri Baptist Invitational at the Spencer T. Olin Golf Course beginning Monday.
