WHITTINGTON, Ill. – The Olivet Nazarene University women's golf team took down Missouri Baptist when they squared off at the Conference Clash played at Rend Lake Monday and Tuesday.
In a head-to-head match against the Spartans, the Tigers used a big first round to run away with a sizable victory. ONU opened with a round of 359 Monday and closed at 363 for a 722, nearly 40 strokes ahead of their opponent at 758.
All four ONU scorers placed inside the top five, led by Taylor Ice who claimed individual medalist honors by two strokes at 172. The freshman from Salem, Ill., fired the tournament's best round with an 82 Monday before closing with a 90 to card the winning score.
The next three Tigers all finished within four strokes of one another. Mya Jones took a stroke off her second round with a 91-90 (181) to take third. Bella Rosado showcased her consistency with consecutive rounds of 92 (182) to secure fourth. Back-to-back CCAC Women's Golfer of the Week Lizzie Howard rounded out the ONU scoring with a 185 (94-91) to place fifth.
Amelia Birge and Alexa Scalise both competed for the Tigers, as well, firing 193 and 211, respectively.
The Tigers will host another tournament next week at the Spring Tiger Invite.
