BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – The Olivet Nazarene University women's basketball team closed out the 2022 home schedule with a 91-67 victory over the visiting IU-Kokomo Cougars Friday night at McHie Arena. Caroline Boehne tied a career-high with 23 points and grabbed 11 rebounds registering her sixth double-double of the year.
The Cougars started the night hot from the floor converting their first five field goals. Kokomo built their largest lead of the game (6) within the first two minutes of the game. The Tigers stormed back with a 14-2 run to take their first lead of the night. IU-K scored the final six points for the first quarter to make it a one-point game with ONU leading 23-22.
Tigerball kicked off the second quarter with a 13-2 run starting with a Bett O'Neal layup seven seconds in and ending with Alayha Allen picking off an inbound pass for an easy score at the 6:17 mark to stretch their lead to 12. The Tigers finished the quarter outscoring their opponents 32-10 and headed into the locker room with a 55-32 lead.
Olivet put the game away in the third quarter leading by as many as 36 points at the end of the period. Their defense held the Cougars to just 15 field goal attempts to the Purple and Gold's 25. ONU converted five of their 13 made three-point baskets in the period. The 70-44 lead heading into the fourth quarter was too much for the visitors to make up as The Tigers went on to pick up their sixth win of the year with a final score of 91-67.
Boehne led all players with 23 points. Maggie Cora reached double figures in scoring in back-to-back games with 10 points. O'Neal and Jamie Finn combined for eight steals and Khendel Rolison led the Tigers with five assists off the bench.
