BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – The Olivet Nazarene University women's basketball team fell to the CCAC leaders, IU-Northwest, 91-82 Saturday afternoon in McHie Arena. Senior forward Caroline Boehne's 16 points put her in the 1,000-career points club making her the 33rd Tigers to reach the century mark. Olivia Demosthenes registered her first career double while setting a new career-high with 10 boards.
Boehne's team-high 16 points and 10 rebounds earned the Hoffman, Ill. native her fourth double-double of the season and her second in back-to-back games. She now has a career total of 1,005 points and has reached double digits in scoring in seven of the season's eight games.
Demosthenes got hot early scoring seven of her total points and corralled four of her total rebounds in the first quarter. The Tigers fell behind to as much as 11 points in the second quarter before a 17-6 run capped off with Demosthenes hitting a three with 1:26 left in the half cut the deficit to one and ONU went into the locker room trailing IU-NW 36-35.
Bett O'Neal and Boehne took control of the game out of the break scoring 15 of the team's 28 points in the third period. O'Neal dropped in eight of her 13 points for the contest in the third period along with two steals and an assist. ONU built their largest lead of the game at seven after Anne Peters converted a three-point bucket with 45 seconds left in the quarter and entered the fourth with a 63-59 advantage.
The RedHawks regained the lead in the fourth quarter at the 5:40 mark after going on a 12-2 run. Jamie Finn's three-ball regained the Olivet lead with the score of 74-73. The visitors responded with a 9-2 run to retake the lead for good. IU-Northwest's game-high 32 fourth-quarter points were too much as ONU fell with the final score of 91-82.
