DEERFIELD, Ill. – The Olivet Nazarene University women's basketball team picked up their second road win of the year after defeating Trinity International 108-82 Wednesday night. Maggie Cora led the way pouring in a season-high 21 points after shooting 3-6 from beyond the arc and 8-13 from the field while five other Tiger players eclipsed double-digits in total points.
Cora, the senior guard out of Lizton, Ind., got off to a fast start with 10 points in the first 10 minutes of the contest. She was a perfect 5-5 from the floor, 2-2 from three, and 2-2 from the free throw line before missing her first shot attempt at the 7:07 mark in the third quarter.
Caroline Boehne registered her third double-double of the season with 11 points and 13 rebounds. The senior forward corralled seven offensive boards and the Tigers outrebounded the Trojans 47-39 on the night. She doled out a season-high four assists and swiped a season-high four steals.
Cora, Boehne, Olivia Demosthenes, Olivia Dirkse, Brooklyn Marshall, and Khendel Rolison all reached double figures in the scoring column. Rolison set a new season-high with her 14 points while Marshall tied her season-high with 10. Demosthenes ended the night with 17. She leads the Tigers in scoring averaging 14.6 points per game. Dirkse rounded out the Tiger offense with 15 points off the bench. Both Demosthenes and Dirkse have scored in double figures in all but one game this season.
ONU stormed out to a 13-2 lead to start the game. TIU chipped away and tied the game at 25-25 before taking their first and only lead of the night at the 8:10 mark in the second quarter. The Tigers went into the locker room leading 51-49. In the second half, Olivet went on a game changing 23-2 run to create an insurmountable lead and outscored the home team 32-11 for the period. They built their largest lead of the ball game to 31 with only 2:05 left on the clock to leave Van Dixhorn Arena with their third conference win of the season.
