OLIVET NAZARENE ROLLS OVER ROOSEVELT 120-40 ON THE ROAD

CHICAGO, Ill. –  The Olivet Nazarene women's basketball earned their ninth Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) win Wednesday night as they traveled to Roosevelt and won 120-40. The Tigers had their best defensive performance holding the Lakers to shooting only 29.8% from the floor, 5.9% from three, and turned RU over 34 times.

Olivet Nazarene came out with the hot hand to start the night by converting seven three-point buckets. Maggie Cora started out the game 3-3 from the field and made two three-point baskets leading the way. ONU built a 20-10 lead in the first five minutes of the period and then kept the Lakers scoreless for the remaining 4:46. This defense led to an offense that produced a 15-0 run to end the first quarter leading 35-10.

The Tigers picked off where they left off coming out of the official break. Zanna Myers scored six points and swiped three steals in the second quarter. Anne Peters tacked on five points off the bench. ONU matched the first period by making seven more threes. Four of which were made in the final 2:22 of the half that sparked a 12-2 run. Olivet carried a comfortable lead heading into the locker room at the half.

Halftime: Olivet Nazarene 69, Roosevelt 27

ONU did not let up and held Roosevelt to scoring only six points in the third quarter. Six points is a season-best for the Tigers defensively for a single quarter. Myers came out of halftime and drained the first three-point attempt of the second half to spark a 14-2 run. Olivet followed it up with another run of 10-2 to close out the period. ONU forced the Lakers into 10 turnovers with six different players registering a steal.

The Tiger bench closed out the game by scoring 21 of their 25 fourth-quarter points. Again they won both sides of the ball by holding RU to seven points in the period.
