SOFTBALL SEASON ENDS AT CCAC TOURNAMENT

CROWN POINT, Ind. – The Olivet Nazarene University softball team fought until the end but saw its season end Saturday in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament at the Crown Point Sportsplex.

After falling in their opening-round matchup Friday, the No. 4-seeded Tigers lost the elimination game to St. Francis (Ill.) 4-1.

The Tigers finished with just six hits in their finale, only one of those coming across the first three innings. Zoe Oshiro and Faith Mikos both recorded two hits apiece.

Trailing 2-0, Olivet got on the board without the benefit of an RBI in the fourth. Allie Timm led off the inning with a single through the left side, and pinch runner Autumn Adamik was quickly moved to third on a Kahiwa Ili and Gwen Bender groundout. Adamik then scampered home on a wild pitch to cut the ONU deficit in half.

But that would prove to be the only run the Tigers could muster as the Fighting Saints tacked on two more runs to put the game out of reach. ONU had runners in scoring position in the final two innings but couldn't cash in.

The Tigers finish the season with a 23-19 record.
