MELBOURNE, Fla. – Olivet Nazarene University softball wrapped up its run at the Space Coast Tournament with a pair of victories Friday, defeating Waldorf 8-0 and edging Dordt 1-0 in a pitchers' duel. The Tigers' bats stayed hot in the opener before timely hitting and strong pitching sealed a perfect final day of competition.

ONU wasted little time jumping on Waldorf, plating two runs in the second inning. Autumn Adamik opened the scoring with an RBI double, and Zoe Oshiro followed with a triple to extend the lead. The Tigers tacked on insurance in the fifth when Gwen Bender drove in a run before Shylar Boze delivered a two-out RBI double. ONU blew the game open in the sixth with four more runs, including a two-run single from Allie Timm. In the circle, Jauslyn Nells and Olivia Saldana combined for a four-hit shutout, with Nells earning the win.

The Tigers' matchup against Dordt turned into a pitchers' duel, but ONU found a way to manufacture the game's only run in the seventh. Bender sparked the rally with a two-out single, and Timm followed with a base hit to put two runners aboard. Boze then delivered the clutch moment, knocking an infield single to bring home the game-winning run. Timm was dominant in the circle, tossing a complete-game shutout while striking out four and allowing just three hits.

Looking Ahead

With the tournament in the books, ONU now turns its attention to its home opener. The Tigers will return to Bourbonnais for their next matchup, kicking off the home slate against Cornerstone University on Mar. 14th. 2 p.m. CST.
