BRANSON, Mo. – Olivet Nazarene University's (ONU) softball team took the field this weekend at the Branson Bash Classic, splitting four games to open the year. The Tigers picked up a dominant win over Saint Mary-of-the-Woods and edged out Evangel in extra innings, but fell to Graceland and No. 7 Central Methodist.
ONU opened the weekend with an explosive offensive performance, rolling past Saint Mary-of-the-Woods 10-2 in five innings. The Tigers wasted no time, scoring three runs in the first and adding four more in the third to break the game open. Zoe Oshiro led the way, going 3-for-4 with four RBIs, including a triple, while Kahiwa Ili drove in two. Faith Mikos added a double and two hits, and Allie Timm was sharp in the circle, striking out five while allowing just one earned run.
The Tigers carried their momentum into their second game, gutting out an 8-6 extra-inning win over Evangel. After a back-and-forth battle, ONU took control in the ninth, plating three runs to secure the win. Mikos and Oshiro stayed hot at the plate, combining for five hits and two RBIs, while Shylar Boze came through with three RBIs. Timm picked up the win in relief, holding Evangel scoreless through the final four innings.
Day two started with a tough 7-2 loss against Graceland, as the Tigers struggled to capitalize offensively. ONU put up two early runs in the second inning, but the Yellowjackets responded with five in the bottom half and never looked back. Oshiro, Timm, and Boze each recorded a hit, but ONU couldn't string together enough offense to keep pace.
In the final game of the weekend, the Tigers faced a high-powered Central Methodist squad and fell 13-4 in five innings. ONU jumped out to an early 3-1 lead in the first, but the Eagles answered with five runs in the second and added another five-run inning in the fifth to pull away. Oshiro, Stephanie Hause, Ili, and Gwen Bender all recorded RBIs, while Timm and Olivia Saldana split time in the circle.

ONU will now turn its focus to a road matchup against Concordia University on Feb. 14th, with first pitch set for 2:30 p.m. CST.
