NOAH SEARS GRABS ALL-AMERICAN HONORS AS THE TIGERS COMPETE IN THE NAIA INDOOR TRACK AND FIELD NATIONALS

BROOKINGS, S.D. – The Olivet Nazarene University men's track and field team traveled to Sanford-Jackrabbit Athletic Complex on the campus of South Dakota State University for the 2022 NAIA Men's Indoor Track and Field Championships on Thursday through Saturday.

 

Day one saw only prelim races.  In the men's 5,000-meter run, Taylor Vallangeon finished 30th overall with a time of 15:25.66.  The Tigers also raced in the prelims in the 4x800 meter relay.  The team of Ethan Hodel, Max Grant, Brett Hulliberger, and Erik Richter finished in 11th place with a time of 7:50.70.  Those were the only men's athletes who competed on day one. 

 

In day two of competition, Vince Giuliano started the day and finished 26th in the 200-meter dash, prelims, with a time of 22.10 seconds.  In the field, Austin Kasap settled for a 17th place finish in the weight throw with a mark of 17.07 meters.  Giuliano and Kasap were the only men's athletes that competed in day two of the championships.

 

The lone competitor for the Tigers on the final day of competition was in the pole vault with Noah Sears.   Sears placed seventh in the event and recorded a mark of 4.70 meters.  Sears was also the lone Tiger men track and field athlete that gathered All-American honors in the meet.

WHAT'S NEXT?

The Tigers return to the track on Saturday, March 26th in the ONU Spring Opener.  The festivities going to be held at Ward Field.  The time has yet to be determined.
