ONU MEN'S TRACK AND FIELD TAKES SECOND IN THE CCAC INDOOR CONFERENCE MEET

BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – The Olivet Nazarene University men's track and field team hosted the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Indoor Championships for the first time since 2019 on Friday and Saturday.  The Tigers took second-place in the meet with 198.5 points, while St. Francis won the meet with 218 points.  St. Ambrose took third in the meet with 157 points. 

 

The Tigers saw multiple first-place and all-conference performances on the track. Esau Haynes and Vince Giuliano took second place in the 60-meter dash and the 400-meter dash, respectively.  Haynes had a time of 7.04 seconds and Giuliano finished his race in 50.62 seconds. Then, Connor Price and Ethan Hodel took second and third in the 600-meter run.  The Tigers, like the women, dominated the relays.  The team of Max Grant, who also won the men's Heptathlon with a score of 4,366, Giuliano, Ben Tavares, and Hodel won the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:24.57. Then, the team of Price, Flynn Prather, Payton Domagalski, and Mabaraka Mmbumba won the 4x800 meter relay with a time of 8:13.11.   

 

ONU also, like the women's team, saw a lot of success in the field events as well.  After Francisco Benavides got third in high jump, Noah Sears continued his dominance in the pole vault as he won the event with a mark of 4.65 meters.  Ivan Williams then won the men's long jump with a mark of 6.66 meters. Austin Kasap then took third-place in the shot put and then won the weight throw with marks of 14.26 meters and 17.19 meters, respectively.

 

Kasap won Male Field Athlete of the Meet as the Tigers took second-place in the meet with 198.5 points.
