MEN'S TRACK AND FIELD COMBINE FOR NINE FIRST-PLACE FINISHES HOSTING ONU INVITE

BOURBONNAIS, Ill.—The Olivet Nazarene men's track and field team hosted their second ONU Invite of the season Saturday afternoon. Noah Sears highlighted the day with a final height cleared for 4.80 meters to meet NAIA "A" standard for Men's Pole Vault. James LeGrand met the NAIA "B" standard with a finishing time of 15:02.84 in the Mixed 3000 Meter Race Walk

 

The Tigers saw four first-place finishes in the running events. Three of those first-place finishes came in races of 600 meters and greater. Ethan Hodel won first in the 600-meter run with a time of 1:24.06. Eric Richter crossed the line with a time of 1:57.64 in the 800-meter run. The mile race was won by Nate Mayo who clocked in at 4:26.49. Taylor Vallangeon took second in the 3000-meter race for a time of 8:50.55.

 

Esau Haynes and Ranulfo Bernadit turned in terrific performances by both finishing second in their respective sprint competitions. Haynes ran a 7.12 in the 60-meter dash while Bernadit timed in at 23.79 in the 200-meter dash.   

 

ONU claimed five first-place finishes in the field events. Austin Kasap earned two of those top prize spots with a throw of 16.49 meters and a toss of 14.27 meters in the weight throw and shot put respectively. Sears won the pole vault competition, Francisco Benavides cleared 1.91 meters in the high jump to beat out the field, and Ivan Williams jumped 6.44 meters in the long jump for first position.  

 

The team of Hodel, Ben Tavares, Skyler Blanton, and Connor Haab finished the meet for the Tigers as they won the 4x400 meter relay with a time of 3:27.69.

WHAT'S NEXT?

The Tigers host the Walter Cramer Invitational on Saturday, February 5th inside the Perry Student Life and Recreation Center.  The meet will start at 10:30 a.m.
