KLENNER AND FARIA GATHER COSIDA ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT HONORS IN THE AT-LARGE DIVISION

BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) recognized, on Thursday afternoon, its selections for Academic All-District in the At-Large category.  Olivet Nazarene University men's tennis senior Francisco Faria and ONU men's swim and dive sophomore Nicholas Klenner earned this prestigious honor.  This is the first time either Faria or Klenner garnered this honor. 

 

A native of Porto, Portugal, Faria had a great season on and off the court for the Tigers.  In the classroom, Faria majored in international business and boasted a GPA of 3.67. Faria was also member of the CCAC All-Academic team, twice.  On the court, the Tiger senior posted a 26-5 record in singles' play and 14-11 in doubles' play.  Additionally, Faria was the individual runner-up at the 2021 ITA Cup, losing the match in three sets.  In the latest ITA ranking that was release on April 20th, Faria ranks seventh in the nation in singles.  Faria is the first Tiger men's tennis player to earn this honor since 2016.   

 

A native of Whiteland, Ind., Klenner had a great season in the classroom and in the pool for the Tigers.  In the classroom, Nicholas majors in Engineering and boasts a GPA of 3.92.  Klenner also gathered KCAC Scholar Athlete honors this season.  In the pool, the Tiger sophomore led the Tigers to their first KCAC Conference title in school history as he broke three records in the meet.  Additionally, in the national meet, Klenner finished as a two-time All-American as he placed sixth in the 200-backstroke and fourth in the 200-yard medley relay. As a freshman, Klenner was a multi-time all-conference swimmer in the 100 and 200-yard backstroke and in various relays. Klenner is the eigth Tiger men's swimmer to earn this honor.  

 

The CoSIDA Academic All-America in the At-Large division will be released on Tuesday, June 14th at 11 a.m. CST.
