#22 ONU MEN'S SOCCER OPENS NATIONAL TOURNAMENT AGAINST LA SIERRA ON THURSDAY

BOURBONNAIS, Ill. - The No. 22 Olivet Nazarene University men's soccer team is headed to Bethel University in Mishawaka, Ind. for the first and second rounds of the NAIA Men's Soccer Tournament, as announced by the national office on Friday.

QUALIFICATION
Olivet earned an automic bid to the national tournament by winning the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference tournament. The tournament win finished off a perfect conference season for the Tigers, after they went 10-0-0 in the conference during the regular season.

MATCHUP
The Tigers are a four-seed and will face the five-seed, La Sierra (Calif.) on Thursday, Nov. 20 at 5 p.m. CST. The La Sierra Golden Eagles qualified for the national tournament by winning the Great Southwest Athletic Conference tournament. They hold an overall record of 14-3-1 and were receiving votes in the Nov. 12 edition of the NAIA Coaches' Poll.

The winner of the first round matchup will advance to play the home team and one-seed, Bethel (Ind.) on Saturday, Nov. 22.

LOCATION
Both the first and second rounds will take place at Morey Field on the campus of Bethel University in Mishawaka, Ind. 

ONU TOURNAMENT HISTORY
The Tigers return to the national tournament for the first time since 2023, where they lost in the first round to LSU Shreveport (La.) by a score of 1-0 in 2OT. Olivet only has one national tournament win in its history, which came back in 2012. 

With a win on Thursday, the Tigers will have a rematch with Bethel from earlier in the season. Despite taking an early 1-0 lead against the Pilots, Olivet conceded two unanswered goals and eventually lost 2-1.

2025 TOURNAMENT INFORMATION
The NAIA Men's Soccer Championship is a 40-team single elimination tournament. There are 16 sites hosting first and/or second round games, with the winners from each site advancing to the final site in Gulf Shores, Ala.
